Hi,
I am the systems admin of a compute cluster and am installing Matlab. We have a network license for multi-user use and we have multiple cores that users can potentially take advanatage of for parallel processing.
I would like to know the difference between installing Maltab (concurrent license) +Parallel Toolbox and Matlab Parallel Server.
Up until now I have not been installing the Parallel Server, just including the Parallel Toolbox in the installation. Would you recommend installing the Parallel Server option instead and can you let me know what the difference is?
Thanks

Hi Anglea
Parallel Computing Toolbox provides the parallel language (parfor, parfeval, spmd etc) and will allow you to run programs that scale to one node on CPUs and also provides NVIDIA GPU support.
Parallel Sever does all of that too and also allows you to scale individual MATLAB jobs to multiple nodes. Parallel Sever also allows for so called 'remote submission' which allows MATLAB users to submit jobs to your scheduler (SLURM etc) directly from MATLAB.
If you like to discuss this further, feel free to message me on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/mike-croucher-32336113/
Hope this helps,
Mike
