I am using the Database Toolbox, and I have objects which when they are created have a connection property... I am looping through some code, and I keep getting 'Error using databae/fetch...' , 'Data source rejected establishment of connection, message from server: "Too many connections"'.. so I know mysql has a limit on the number of connections, but I can't figure out Matlabs interaction with it... I have not formally destroyed my objects, but rather at the end of each loop, I clear the object, and execute close commands... but it doesn't seem to help..there is nothing in my workspace, but clearly the connections are being maintained, at least at the server level. I would have thought it got closed when the objects were cleared. Any ideas on how to close these connections?

You should be able to close the connection using the command:
close(connectionObj)
Also, the documentation might be useful for your purpose:
doc database
