People at Matworks never heard of "backward compatibility". Upgrading to ML2023 is a punishment. Correct me if I am wrong.

Upgrading to MATLAB 2023 is a punishment.
My existing MATLAB 2019 codes are now unusable, and I have to spend all my time making them compatible with MATLAB 2023.
  • readtable() changed its output behavior compared to ML2019. I use that function at several places.
  • I can't go back to ML2019, since ours is a network license of ML2023.
  • The MATLAB runtime is a large 4+GB download, and it is not backward compatible. This means that if I want to run MATLAB 2019 and 2023 standalone applications, I will have to install two separate runtimes. This is a waste of resources and a major inconvenience.
  • I have only been using MATLAB 2023 for 2-3 days, and I am already having problems. I am worried about what other problems I may encounter in the future.
Backward compatibility left the chat.
