Hello MathWorks Community,
I'm currently working on a project involving power electronics, where I aim to optimize various circuit topologies. I would like to leverage the machine learning and deep learning capabilities provided by MATLAB in order to achieve this, but I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get started.
I would appreciate any guidance on how I can approach this problem. Are there any relevant functions or toolbox in MATLAB that could be especially helpful for such a task? Are there examples or tutorials that demonstrate similar applications of machine learning or deep learning to problems in power electronics or circuit optimization?
I understand that training a machine learning or deep learning model requires a dataset. For this particular problem, what kind of data should I aim to gather? How could I prepare this data for the training process?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi Silumin,
To get a good grasp over power electronics in Simulink please take a look at the following self-paced course in which a buck converter is modeled at varying levels of model fidelity - https://matlabacademy.mathworks.com/details/power-electronics-simulation-onramp/powerelectronics
Additionally, consider exploring the “AI-mag toolbox”, a MATLAB toolbox designed for optimizing power electronic inductors. This tool integrates the precision of the Finite Element Method (FEM) with the rapid evaluation capabilities of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). More information can be found on the MATLAB File Exchange - https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/78934-ai-mag
For further insights, you might also look at this documentation, which demonstrates using a feedforward deep learning network within a Simulink model to predict a battery's state of charge (SOC) - https://www.mathworks.com/help/deeplearning/ug/battery-state-of-charge-estimation-simulink-deep-learning.html
