disparity

Hai....to find disparity of 2 images can we just find the disparity pixel by pixel...by subtracting each cells with corresponding cell in next image???is it possible by shifting the image to 2 sides and finding disparity again we can find the minimum disparity???will it be accurate?is this method is correct??
