Natural Frequency of damp command

Why is the "Natural Frequency" of "damp" command in MATLAB equal to eigenvalue? As I know, natural frequency of an undamped system is equal to sqrt(eig(sys)) but the natural frequency that damp command returns is equal to eigenvalue.
