System Modelling of mechanical diesel propulsion vessel

Hi all,

I am currently trying to model a mechanical diesel propulsion vessel, to be able to find out the specific fuel consumption by inputing a specific load required based during a single operation.

I am new to simulink and unsure of how to begin. Hope someone will be able to guide me through.

My current understanding is I require to create this flow,

diesel engine > synchronous generator > load profile.

How do i design the "diesel engine"?
