How can I create image database in a folder?

I have taken snapshots of 5 images in jpg format. I want to resize them and convert them to gray scale and use in my project work relating to face recognition using L1 norm minimisation. But after converting them to the required size the images are coming inflated not as in various databases like ORL or Yale.

So how to create these??

I don't know what that means. I don't know what it means to "inflate" and image, and I don't know what ORL and Yale are but I assume they're some kind of database files. I don't have the database toolbox either, but I don't see why you think that resizing an image should somehow automagically enter them into a database file. Why to you think that should happen if you don't run any code beyond resizing to make it happen?
