locating groups of data in a 2D matrix

Hi, I have a 2d array with a series of values which represents an image.

The image contains groups of data i.e blobs, which are surrounded by white space which is represented by NaN's

Is there a function i can use that will give me the loacation of the blobs in the matrix or will i have to create a script to process the array?
