Execution of pcode() function from within a standalone (compiled) Matlab function

I have a Matlab function that amongst, others executes some pcode() commands during runtime. This function works as expected when it's a plain m file executed from within Matlab (2014a).

However, after this function is compiled using Application Compiler (for Linux 64bit machine) and ran using MCR v8.3 I get the following error:

Undefined function 'pcode' for input arguments of type 'char'

Does this imply that the pcode function is not available using MCR? If yes, is there any possible workaround?
