Filtering annual cycle from time series

Hi,

I have a sea surface temperature time series over 5 years. When performing a Morlet wavelet analysis, a very significant annual signal is observed.

I actually need to filter out the annual signal to observe any inter-annual or intra-annual signal.

Any idea/suggestion how to perform the filtering out?

Without knowing more about your data, I would use a conventional notch or bandstop filter, as calculated with the Signal Processing Toolbox. (I deal mostly with biomedical signals, and the convention is to preprocess them with conventional digital notch filters rather than using wavelet filters to remove unwanted frequencies.)
