write empty matrix (null) into excel

Hi ,

I am using xlswrite to write the centroid of points in a stack of images. But few of the images dont have points and hence I get an error saying 'Input array is empty'. Is there a way I can overcome this error msg or enter 0 if there aren't any points in an image. Thanks in advance.
