Error using load - Can't read file

Trying to load a data file. There are a number of other files all made at the same time from the same folder but one of will not load. The file exists, as I tested, and is in the proper location but will not open. Any thoughts or ideas on where to go from here?

Error using load Can't read file C:\ .... \xyz.mat.
