Getting started with Simulink External Mode

Where could I find a good example how to get started with External Mode using Ethernet based communications between host and target?

Target system is running VxWorks 6.9. How do I set up target/host communications? Do I need to implement send/receive functions by myself? Any example available?

How is the generated code (from model) loaded into the target system and started?
