Validate License key for an App

Hi all, I have generated some license keys and stored them in MS SQL server management studio Database and I want my app to be protected by having the users to validate the given license key online. Can anyone please tell me what the process is using MATLAB Database Toolbox? Can MATLAB use SQL statements to check if the serial key exists? I'm new to Database Toolbox so I'd be very grateful if you could help.
