How would I plot an average wind direction rose or compass plot?

I've got a dataset 26,000 datapoints of wind direction (degrees). I want to display this data to give a good reflection of the average wind direction and trends of wind direction for the dataset

I have tried using compass and rose plots. They turned out some understandable plots, ,but not what I was after.

I want 12 sections on the plot e.g. 1-30 deg, 30-60 deg..... and the percentages of datavalues in these ranges displayed. I want to set boxes (which are displayed on rose) to be coloured in.
