why am I getting this message "Undefined function or variable" when I try to run this code?

You have a syntax error in your file that is making it unrunnable.

As the very first character is flagged the first thing I would look for is the possibility that you have too many end statements. But if you hover your cursor on the red underline on the first line it will tell you what it thinks is wrong
