Synchronous machine -Swing bus -3.125MVA , active power =0 is initialised and connected to resistive load 2.5MW.It generates 2.5MW for load. But is there any limit for the load capacity that can be connected? If so, how do we determine that ?

Hi NN,
The maximum load capacity that can be connected to a 3.125 MVA synchronous generator is determined by factors such as its MVA rating, power factor of the load, thermal limits, stability limits, and operational constraints. For a purely resistive load with a power factor of 1, the generator can supply up to its MVA rating, which is 3.125 MW. However, when considering reactive power, the actual active power capacity may be less. It's important to ensure that the generator operates within its thermal capacity to prevent overheating, maintains synchronism with the grid for stability, and adheres to operational limits such as excitation, frequency, and voltage ranges. If the generator is supplying a 2.5 MW resistive load, it is within its MVA rating, but a detailed analysis using the generator's capability curve and manufacturer data is recommended for precise assessment.
