Battery circuit design optimization

Hi,

I would like to create an algorithm to find the optimous circuit configuration (series, parallel)

for a specific battery cell (with given size, capacity and voltage) to meet a required voltage and power on the battery pack (a battery pack containts a combination of multiple cells).

To specify my question: In the beginning, I do not whant to model the battery in detail,

I just whant to find the optimous cell configuration in my circuit and maybe compare it to other cell types.

Because I am not familiar with such algorithms in matlab I need a quick reference, where to start,

or even if there is already an example (didn't find anything).
