If you have your signal in the workspace or in a file
Open the sptool gui and:
File -> Import

I did that. I meant to ask when I type sptool, the gui opens up but there are no buttons to load my signal in the gui.

you load your signal like I told you and select the filter you want, click in the apply button and check if the data is correct, after it another signal appears in the signal column with the response of the filter to your signal.

This is odd. I have a signal x(t) vs t. I imported this signal from workspace to sptool gui and viewed it. It didn't appear right. when I just imported x(t) without the time(30MHz sampling frequency) and view it, it comes out fine.
