Simulink, Neural Network Toolbox: Problem with training data for model reference controller

Hello to everyone,

I have a strange problem using the model reference controller from the Neural Network Toolbox. I am on R2016b and I followed all the steps as stated in: https://www.mathworks.com/help/deeplearning/ug/design-model-reference-neural-controller-in-simulink.html

When I try to create trainig data in the model reference control dialog form, the respective window opens (see first picture below). However, no training data is created, the plots stay white and the textbox in the bottom right corner keeps on being empty, even if I wait ten minutes or more (see second picture). I did the first figure with the help of the NN predictive controller from the NN Toolbox. Strangely, the plant identification works totally fine when I start it using one of these controllers. So I also tried to save my training data too the workspace and to import it to the model reference controller. This does not work either, the plots stay empty just like in the second figure, but the buttons to accept or reject the data in the bottom left corner appear (just like in figure 1). Unfortunately if I click on accept data, nothing happens. I am only able to reject the data. Without any training data though, I am of course not able to get the controller running.

I was just wondering if anyone stumbled across the same problem and found a workaround for this.
