why I can not import excel number into matlab

When I import the excel file into matlab, the 'FreezeFraction'column turned into NaN! Can anyone help me with that? I used MATLAB2018.

Use readtable():

data = readtable('BehaviorData.xls');

It will read correct data from file.

I tried, but it shows the number with '', and I do not have the column vector in workspace.

If you want to get a numeric column vector in your workspace, use the following lines

columnVector = cellfun(@str2double, data.FractionalFreeze);
columnVector(isnan(columnVector)) = 0;
disp(columnVector)

It will also replace all the empty cells with 0 instead of nan.

I wrote this in command window:

data = readtable('BehaviorData.xls'); columnVector = cellfun(@str2double, q.FractionalFreeze ); columnVector(isnan(columnVector)) = 0 ; disp(columnVector)

But I got error:

Warning: Variable names were modified to make them valid MATLAB identifiers. The original names are saved in the VariableDescriptions property. Undefined variable "q" or class "q.FractionalFreeze".
