fillgaps algorithm/code request for python

I'm working on a project that request to reconstruct a gap in an audio signal, the "fillgaps" function works very well, but now i need to replace the code with something else, like Python or c++, it is possible to have the algorithm or the code of this function? Moreover do you have any suggestions where I can find this informations? like some books or articles where i can learn how it exacly works and reproduce the same behavior. I already know that it uses autoregressive model to predict the missing data, but can't find where to start to implement it. Thanks.

fillgaps() is supported by MATLAB Coder, so C++ code could be generated
