Cursor position in app

Is it possible to get the x,y position on a plot drawn with plot(app.UIAxes, ....) in an app? I've tried to get ginput to work but it will only work on a figure that the app creates.

Similarly, datacursormode doen't seem to work with a UIAxes plot.
