Error: Undefined function or variable [even if I defined the same variable on previous line]

While I'm running the coming code, I got this error "Undefined function or variable 'ExGr_ME_1'."

 if (~isempty(ExGr38) || ~isempty(ExGr60))
                            if (ExGr38 > ExGr60)
                               ExGr_ME_1=ExGr38;
                            else
                                ExGr_ME_1=ExGr60;
                            end
                        end

                     if ~isempty(ExGr_ME_1)
                          if (Spd_38 > 0)
                          if (Nq48_1>0 && Nq48_2>0)
                              Del48_1= ----                              Del48_2= -----
                          end

You can place a breakpoint at the line where error happened and see if the variable is really defined.
