The vertical displacement of the numerator and denominator in Matlab Latex

I am trying to write a fraction using the latex command as \frac{1} {2} but the numerator and the denominator is becoming too close to each other and hence making it difficult to spot out the fraction sign. Is it possible to vertically displace the numerator and denominator a bit so the fraction sign can be easily spotted?
