Help required with simulating Ultrasonic Transducers!

Does anyone have experience in simulating Ultrasonic Transducers? I require help with the generation of MATLAB code to simulate ultrasonic transducers in NDT applications, particularly using phased array methods and Total Focusing method to scan for defects in a certain material.

Most Phased Array System Toolbox functions today assumes plane wave. So if you are only doing flash mode, then it is applicable. But for total focus you need to deal with spherical wave front so as of R2016b you probably have to code it yourself.

Thanks, is there also a method to create a material on MATLAB? E.g I would like my ultrasonic waves to pass through an aluminum block, which will have defects in them

One way I can think of is to generate a lot of point scatterers with reflectivity set to aluminum material. Not very efficient, but may be a starting point. HTH
