Hello I have a flder in which there are 40 subfolders=[s1 s2...s40]. But when I am wrting dir in the folder location in the command window its showing all the folder and also two other elements . and ..
What does . and .. means in the case of dir ?

'.' is shorthand for current directory
'..' is shorthand for parent directory
You could try
cd ..
in the command line and you'll be taken one directory up
