Matlab Student suite for PhD Students?

I have a questions about the terms and conditions of the Matlab student license. Soon I will begin to pursue a PhD degree at a research university in the Netherlands. I will be a PhD-Candidate of the university’s graduate school and also will have the role of a teaching assistant at my department. Hence, I will receive a salary from the university.

Due to personal reasons it would be convenient for me to be able to work from home. Since the university unfortunately do not offer a Matlab version to be installed on the private computer of PhD-Students I would like to buy Matlab as well as several toolboxes.

Hence, I wondered whether I am eligible to buy Matlab’s student version?

The version would be used solely on my private computer and only by me personally and solely for research related to my PhD-Thesis project, which naturally is non-profit, in order to obtain the PhD degree. The version would not be used in any of my activities as teaching assistant.

Due to the formulation on the Mathworks website I believe to be eligible to buy the student version:

Yes, the Student Version is open to grad students (Masters, PhD) for use in their courses and research, but not for their use as teaching assistants.

Before you make this investment in the first place, check whether your university already has a license that allows home use. To be best knowledge odd are high in The Netherlands. In doubt, call MathWorks in Eindhoven.
