Simulink RTW Target (standalone executable) interface options

Hello! Are there any options to easily access&control a standalone executable generated by Simulink RTW? My first and most favored approach is to use the Callbacks in "Model Properties". As StartFcn and StopFcn I would for example open a message window or save simulation results from Matlab-Workspace to my windows folder. Apparently these kind of model callbacks are not available in generated code.
Second approach could be to write specific custom c-code as "initialize function" and "terminate function" for the generated code. But I don´t see a straight way to access the workspace-data by means of this custom code. With just using the "MAT-file logging" option in "Code generation > Interface > Data exchange" I am missing a appropriate controllability when executing the standalone file.
Do you have any experience or suggestion concerning this issues?
Thanks a lot in advance! BR, Robin Zimmermann
