matlab change my environment variable $PATH, Can I remove them from $PATH?

there is
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015b\runtime\win64;C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015b\bin
in my environment variable $PATH, what is the use? Can I remove them from $PATH?
If I remove them from $PATH, will matlab break?

Well, they get added as part of the install process so I assume they need to be there. You can try removing them though and then just re-add them if/when it breaks.

@Walter Roberson , in cmd it is %PATH% and in powershell it is $PATH , they are the same thing....

Hi Hao,
Removing those paths from the system's PATH environment variable should not ideally break anything in MATLAB. But with 'C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015b\bin' path removed, while using the terminal, you would would have to first change your current directory to 'C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015b\bin' before being able to run matlab.exe. Having that path to the MATLAB executable in the PATH environment variable allows you to start MATLAB from command prompt from any directory.
