Colouring a map depending on the values

Hello,

I'm trying to paint a matrix that represents a map. Each number represents a material and I want to get a picture of the map with different colours for each material. I can't use a colormap because I want each color to represent just a material independently of each map. This is.. I want to manage to show an image of the map following a table indepently of the map.

For example: 1- Blue 2- Green 10- Red 13- Orange

I am not clear as to why you cannot use a colormap ? Are there other parts of the map that need to be colored through the colormap ? Are the values 3 through 9 to not be colored ?
