Possible to customize querybuilder?

For use in a custom GUI, I'd like to be able to pre-specify querybuilder's output variable and/or retrieve the variable the user entered. Is this possible? More generally, are there undocumented customizations available for querybuilder?

I'm not sure if this is helpful to you or not, but can you just edit querybuilder.m itself to suit your needs?
