speech recogniton using matlab

how to write or wer to start learn the coding to write the MFCC algorithm codes for speech recognition .. actually i m doing final yr and my project is based on speech recognition to control dc motor .. my aim is to implement speech recognition in hardware ... so kindly provide some tips to learn the coding and algorithm implementation in matlab ..
