static text did not show data

as tilte i create GUI and I want to push buttom and then text show my data. below is my coding

data=xlsread('data1.xlsx');
num1=xlsread('data1.xlsx','A131:A387');
num2=xlsread('data1.xlsx','B131:B387');
x=num1;
y=num2;
fitobject=fit(x,y,'poly1');
a=coeffvalues(fitobject);
set(handles.fitting1,'string','a')

it show 'a' on the static text how i should change
