Sanghamitra - if you check the release notes for the Computer Vision System Toolbox found , you will find that the *detectBRISKFeature* function was introduced in R2014a (and so is not available in your version of MATLAB).

while using the detectBRISKFeature, MATLAB 2013 is showing undefined function. Why?
