rank(A) is the dim(A) of A matrix in Matlab?

Hy I now studying Linear Algebra in Matlab...and in my book is written:
W = p + Z*q
where q is coeficient [k 1] ( k = dim(N(A)) ) , dimension vector q is dim(null(A))
so Z = null(A) >> q = rank(Z) ?
