Verification and Troubleshooting Raspberry Pi Wi-Fi Configuration
R2026bIf you configure the Raspberry Pi® hotspot but are unable to connect your client device or successfully configure the Wi-Fi® configuration, there are some verification and troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Service Status
Use this when the hotspot or configuration portal does not appear. If the hotspot or configuration portal does not appear, first verify that the hotspot service and the web application service are running as expected.
These MATLAB® commands return the current state of each service and indicate whether the service is active, inactive, or has failed.
% Check access point service system(mypi, 'sudo systemctl status my_create_ap.service'); % Check web application service system(mypi, 'sudo systemctl status my_wifi_app.service');
View Service Logs
View recent log entries to understand service behavior and identify errors during startup or runtime.
These logs show recent messages from each service and help you diagnose issues such as dependency failures, permission errors, or network conflicts.
% View access point service logs system(mypi, 'sudo journalctl -u my_create_ap.service -n 50'); % View web application service logs system(mypi, 'sudo journalctl -u my_wifi_app.service -n 50');
Verify Network Interfaces
Confirm that the network interfaces required for access point operation are present and configured.
The access point workflow creates a virtual interface named ap0.
If this interface does not exist, the hotspot service may not have started
correctly.
% List all network interfaces system(mypi, 'ip addr show'); % Check if access point interface exists system(mypi, 'ip addr show ap0');
Test Web Application
Check that the web application responds to the HTTPS requests.
% Test if web server is responding system(mypi, 'curl -I https://192.168.12.1/');
A successful response confirms that the web server is running and reachable from the local network.
