TEMPpoint is a family of temperature measurement instruments designed for high accuracy and industrial robustness. These instruments allow direct thermocouple, RTD, and precision voltage or resistance measurements with a PC. Available in both USB and Ethernet (LXI) versions, TEMPpoint can be configured with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, or 48 input channels for ultimate flexibility. Accuracy is achieved through design features unmatched in any other temperature measurement instrument. Key features include: a dedicated 24-bit, Delta-Sigma A/D converter for each input channel for simultaneous, high resolution measurements; a dedicated CJC (Cold Junction Compensation) for each thermocouple channel; a dedicated reference current source for each RTD channel; and 1000V galvanic isolation channel-to-channel and to the host computer to protect signal integrity.
MATLAB users can directly access Data Translation's hardware using Instrument Control Toolbox from The MathWorks. Instrument Control Toolbox communicates with TEMPpoint instruments through an instrument driver wrapper based on MATLAB and an underlying TEMPpoint IVI-COM driver. The instrument driver is included at no charge along with the Data Translation hardware. Both USB and Ethernet (LXI) versions of the TEMPpoint instrument are supported.
This integration allows users to control instruments directly from MATLAB, including instrument setup, data collection, and any other functionality available to the device. Instrument Control Toolbox provides a direct and consistent interface to each device while exposing the inherent features of the hardware.
