OK, I had to test the leader's work myself, and I get it now. If any values repeat, <CODE>unique()</CODE>'s answer is shorter and therefore not equal. Since <CODE>unique()</CODE> sorts the answer in ascending order, only a strictly increasing function has both terms equal.
