Can you change line spacing in a textbox created with annotation?

I am trying to display a line of text in a custom font in a figure and I need a very specific space between lines. Can the spacing between lines of text created in a texbox using annotation be set and if so how?

I don't think it's possible to control line spacing by setting a property of annotation.

Here's something I concocted, but it uses text, not annotation, so it's probably not what you are looking for. But, I thought it might be worth sharing, anyway.

Another issue is that the function mytext creates a text box for each line of text. So putting a border around the text will be a bit tricky as well.

Thank you very much for this Scott. Please forgive my ignorance, but I when I run your code, I get the error 'Unrecognized function or variable 'mytext'.' The annotation code does display the text contained in s on the current figure (within a box) as disaplyed on your screen capture but the code stop when ecountering the line mytext(1,2,s,1)...

Actually I tried with the function 'text' instead of 'mytext' and it is working

That's odd that you could not execute my code. Did you copy all the code into your MATLAB script? The function mytext is defined at the end, in the last seven lines. The script should execute fine, as long as the code for the function is at the end.

You are absolutely right, I stupidly copy-pasted your code in the command window and got an error message stating the functions must be in the script. I have since reviewed how functions work and I am starting to get it (really sorry for having suggested that your code would not work - I am struggling with the concept of functions and how they operate). I have been able to implement your function in my code, but have encountered a new problem: My goal is to display a block of text in a figure in a particular font, particular size, particular colour. The text is contained in a 6 x 6 char array. I can display the character array using annotation, in the desired colour, fonttype, etc. but when i call your function asking it to modify the line spacing, it displays the char array again at the coordinate specified and with the line spacing required but the font style and colour have been rest and I cannot change them. Do I need to add the fontsize , colour, etc to the function code?

I resolved this by changing the parameters of the last line of the function code: I just changed the properties of hf=text(x,y,flip(sf))... It worked! Thank you ever so much Scott.
