Meaning of hypergeometric function as an answer to an indefinite integral.

syms a x real
expression= sqrt(1+a^2/x^4);
F = int(expression,x);
This yields F to be a "hypergeometric function". Does that mean that a closed form indefinite integral does not exist for 'expression'?

Yes, it means that the symbolic integral can only be expressed in term of an infinite series: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypergeometric_function
