Import Data Into xls file by using MatLab Command

I am having difficulties to import file into MatLab due to unusual *.prn file format . I was thinking to open excel by using MatLab code an then Import data into it . For matlab help I learned to open excel workbook . But I don't know how to Import data into that excel file using MatLab command . Please help .

Are you trying to save a MAT file to XLS format or trying to run Excel from the command line?

What I've always done is export my array using the xlswrite command and then I would open in manually. I'm not sure if Excel can be run from command line, but if it can, you can try using the system command.

Example:

 A = [1 2 3; 4 5 6; 7 8 9];
 xlswrite('test.xls',A);
 system('Command line code to open file in Excel.');

Make sure you use the single quotes as you would a string in MATLAB.
