how to calculate the hamming distance between two images?and also compare them?

i have matlab 7 version.. i need to calculate the hamming distance of each image with all other images in a folder....and store this in an array.. and i need to compare query image with the other images in the folder... the images which are with the nearest distance should be rerieved.. how to do this?
