Why the distributor forced me to provide MAC Address in order to issue the license to me?

I bought a MATLAB individual license for 930+ USD from the only distributor in my region. Now I have paid the money and they forced me to provide my computer's MAC address to issue the license to me. Obviously they want to bind the license to the computer, but actually I knew that we can install an individual license to multiple computers (like home and office) given that we are not using it at the same time. Any one have any suggestions on this? Thanks

The "Standard" license can be activated on four systems simultaneously, and if I recall correctly, can be used on two at the same time. However, that license is a higher price than you indicated, so I am not sure what kind of license you obtained.

I do not know about the agreements between MathWorks and the distributor, that may have been made to meet local needs. Assuming it is the same as in a country with direct MathWorks representation, I can confirm there is a license option like your describe it. Assuming this is also available for you, I would expect a misunderstanding and not a motivation to force you to something and suggest you contact the customer service team of the distributor. I am however offering to send me an email in case you are unable to sort it out.
