How can I hide filtered files in the uigetfile dialog on a Mac instead of graying out non-matching files?

I just started using a Mac for the first time (I'm used to PC) and when you filter filenames in the uigetfile dialogue it grays out non-matching files but does not hide them. I have folders with >500 files that I need to find 2 somewhere in the mix with different extensions. Is there a way that I could get the uigetfile to only show those files with the correct extension like it works on Windows?

Hi,
The documentation states that on some platforms uigetfile displays in gray the files that do not match the specifications.
From the documentation:
[FileName,PathName,FilterIndex] = uigetfile(FilterSpec) displays only those files with extensions that match FilterSpec. On some platforms uigetfile also displays in gray the files that do not match FilterSpec. FilterSpec can be a string or a cell array of strings, and can include the * wildcard.

Yes, I did read that. I would like to know if there is a way that I can have the Windows behavior on a Mac. I do not want them to be grayed out, I want them to not be shown at all.
