Simscape Model with discrete control (simulation and PIL)

Dears,
I would like to ask if and how it is possible to create "simulation" of drive system including motor with mechanical load and power electronics which is controlled digitally by microcontroller. It should pretty resemble to real one. The intention is to have drive system (power electronics, motor and load) modeled with Simscape and controlled by simulink controller. This Simulink controller should be switchable between "continous", discrete and possible to have processor in the loop as well. PIL should run controller connected to Simulink drive system (simscape).
Can you please advice? Thank you.
Best regards, Peter

If you have purchased SimPowerSystems, it comes with many examples like this to help get you started. I would recommend starting with one similiar to your application and then modifying it as needed.

What's difference between SimDriveline and SimPowerSystem? It looks targeting similar application and which is better suited for this?
How about exact timing (sampling) it means synchronization between sampling between drive model and processing via Simulink control (PWM vs. ADC) and I am looking through examples and I can't find example on this...

I've not used SimDriveline. I assume it focuses more on the mechanical system and less on the electrical.
