Reversing Transmission

This example shows a transmission with a forward and a reverse gear. Force applied to the Shift Lever moves the shift linkages in the Double-Sided Synchronizer. When clutches on the A side are engaged, torque is transmitted from the layshaft to the output through a single gear pairing. When the B side is engaged, torque is transmitted through a gear train that includes a direction reversing idler.
